Well after a couple of chats with Mike H, it would seem it does need some adjustment, as he has just had a similar problem.

As the shims behind my side gears are already only 0.030" (0.75mm) thick, I don't fancy skimming them down by the 0.010" (0.25mm) needed.

I could make a 0.010" shim to space the two halves of the carrier apart which would sort one side, but I do need to machine out the main part of the carrier, so I might as well machine them both.

A bit scary, but it should work.

Don't worry, it's not hard as long as you do some simple checks when building it. It's just a shame they aren't mentioned in the instructions.

I was going to take photos during the build, but didn't have time.

If it works well this weekend (going laneing in Wales). I will look to write some "additional"instructions.
