Vitara spare wheel bay

Post by Ninnut85 » Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:32 am

Morning all,

I currently have a 2015 S-Cross and bought a full size spare back when I originally bought it. It fits fine in the boot wheel well but you do have to have the 2 level boot floor on the higher level but that's never been an issue.
I'm currently looking to buying a Vitara and i'm considering a 2021 ish model with the MHEV booster jet engine. Ideally, I want to keep the spare wheel from my S-cross as I believe they are the same wheels on the Vitara so it should fit.
My question is, does anyone know if the spare wheel well if big enough to hold a full size wheel with the boot base being on the higher level like the s-cross does? Given it's a MHEV i've no idea where the batteries are located so part of me wonders if perhaps the spare spare wheel well is smaller on the MHEV models?

Thanks in advance

Way down the road I can answer this question!

I had a 2019 Vitara SZ-T into which I dropped a full size spare (hate the corner cutting space-saver or tyre-knackering gloop) and that was great.
I was a bit concerned that my proposed (now acquired) upgrade to a ‘22 SZ5 hybrid might have the wheel well filled by a battery but the body is exactly the same and my full size wheel fits like before. I’ve removed the polystyrene gloop and compressor holder, bought a screw down clamp (eBay) and put a jack, winder and telescopic wrench in the wheel dish wrapped in a thick towel and the two ‘shelves’ above and all’s good to go.
The wheel was a match for the SZ-T but since the SZ5 has the same size wheel/tyres (the same wheel I think just with quartz cut finish) I’m not buying a matching wheel - silly prices online even for wheels from a scrapper without tyre.

Hope that helps, despite it being a bit late…

This forum has precious little on anything ‘new’ Vitara… am I on the wrong Forum? When I had my Fiat Qubo their forum was absolute magic for hints tips and solutions.
